<lb ed="T" n="0499c21"/>子可往從乞，備衆人物。」卽到彼國，大得衆寶

<lb ed="T" n="0500a13"/>曰：「彼王亦是人，我亦是人，眼耳鼻口四大
<lb ed="T" n="0500a14"/>俱爾，乃不可得一見與言語也。何則？王福德
<lb ed="T" n="0500a15"/>勝人故也。吾亦當作功德，當令王不覺來歸
<lb ed="T" n="0500a16"/>我。」時遂行作沙門，以蜜供養三尊，求一靜
<lb ed="T" n="0500a17"/>處思惟苦空非身，使其未半，意解無縛得六
<lb ed="T" n="0500a18"/>通道，諸能一處不移成羅漢者，地爲震動，
<lb n="0500a19" ed="T"/>帝釋諸天應來慰問，於是天帝諸天人皆下，
<lb ed="T" n="0500a20"/>作禮助其歡喜。比丘問天帝：「卿等天上盡何
<lb n="0500a21" ed="T"/>所爲？」答曰：「天上有四戲觀園，三處是五欲
<lb n="0500a22" ed="T"/>處，一處是道德，在中或論佛貴典，或時論
<lb ed="T" n="0500a23"/>天下四輩精進持法者。」比丘曰：「論持<anchor xml:id="nkr_note_orig_0500003" n="0500003"/><anchor xml:id="nkr_note_mod_0500003" n="0500003"/><anchor xml:id="beg0500003" n="0500003"/>者<anchor xml:id="end0500003"/>爲

<lb ed="T" n="0500b04"/>兩髀，以瘡痛不睡，一年之中得應眞道；天
<lb ed="T" n="0500b05"/>亦歎未曾有也。復有一人在拘睒尼國亦作沙
<lb n="0500b06" ed="T"/>門，在山石室峻險，卒無能得往來者。時魔
<lb ed="T" n="0500b07"/>波旬見其精進，便化作水牛，在比丘前鳴鼻
<lb ed="T" n="0500b08"/>角目，以欲觸之，比丘甚畏而思曰：『此間牛
<lb ed="T" n="0500b09"/>所不能得至，何以有此？得無是魔所爲也？』

<lb ed="T" n="0500b11"/>本形。比丘語魔：『卿恐我何求？』魔言：『見道人精
<lb n="0500b12" ed="T"/>勤恐出我界去，故來相恐矣。』比丘說言：『我
<lb n="0500b13" ed="T"/>所以作沙門者求度世間，佛有相好欲見之
<lb ed="T" n="0500b14"/>耳，佛以去世無能見者，聞魔能變作佛身，爲
<lb n="0500b15" ed="T"/>吾現之，吾便不復精進也。』魔其當然卽化爲
<lb ed="T" n="0500b16"/>佛，在前立，思惟卽得應眞，諸天空中稱善無
<lb n="0500b17" ed="T"/>量，魔悔愁毒卽時滅去。」</p><p xml:id="pT04p0500b1710" cb:place="inline">天帝語比丘：「是三
<lb n="0500b18" ed="T"/>人諸天所歎，于今未休。」比丘語天帝：「此三人
<lb ed="T" n="0500b19"/>者，明識苦空是以朽身。吾本無意爲人所輕，

<lb ed="T" n="0500c13"/>人語言：「汝欲見<name role="" type="person">文殊師利</name>，見之不識，近前高
<lb n="0500c14" ed="T"/>座上<anchor xml:id="beg_5" type="star"/>老翁<anchor xml:id="end_5"/>正是<name role="" type="person">文殊師利</name>，汝便牽著地。如

<lb n="0500c16" ed="T"/>若人求菩薩道，一切當等心於人。求菩薩道

<lb ed="T" n="0500c23"/><p xml:id="pT04p0500c2301">人在世間罪福會遲速合，無有前却，黠人得
<lb n="0500c24" ed="T"/>罪不怨、得福不喜，爾乃爲諦信佛言受持不
<lb ed="T" n="0500c25"/>離。三界之中有九十六種道，世人各奉其所
<lb n="0500c26" ed="T"/>事，冀神有益，此諸小道未曉爲福，豈能<anchor xml:id="nkr_note_orig_0500017" n="0500017"/><anchor xml:id="nkr_note_mod_0500017" n="0500017"/><anchor xml:id="beg0500017" n="0500017"/>執<anchor xml:id="end0500017"/>

<lb ed="T" n="0500c28"/>淸眞，無有八正之深見，豈能祐濟於人乎？是

<lb n="0501a05" ed="T"/>世之本，施一萬報疾若響應，故言：「大道三界
<lb ed="T" n="0501a06"/>之良田也。」何以明之？昔<name role="" type="person">阿育王</name>曾作小兒，時
<lb n="0501a07" ed="T"/>道遇佛不勝歡喜，以少沙土至心奉佛，由此
<lb ed="T" n="0501a08"/>之福故得爲聖王，典主四十萬里十六大國。
<lb ed="T" n="0501a09"/>以此明之，佛最爲良田。昔佛弟難陀，乃往

<lb ed="T" n="0501a20"/>國王，供養五百婆羅門，亦盡世之美，作百
<lb ed="T" n="0501a21"/>種幢幡裝<anchor xml:id="nkr_note_add_0501a2101" n="0501a2101"/><anchor xml:id="beg0501a2101" n="0501a2101"/>挍<anchor xml:id="end0501a2101"/>繒綵、綿<anchor xml:id="nkr_note_orig_0501005" n="0501005"/><anchor xml:id="nkr_note_mod_0501005" n="0501005"/><anchor xml:id="beg0501005" n="0501005"/>潔<anchor xml:id="end0501005"/>、金寶、雜物，一幢直五
<lb ed="T" n="0501a22"/>百兩金，以此伎樂而娛樂之。其有能作此技
<lb n="0501a23" ed="T"/>藝者，便以與之。諸國貧人聞彼國王有此寶
<lb n="0501a24" ed="T"/>物，各各四面雲集合五百人，路由精舍，各
<lb ed="T" n="0501a25"/>習技藝欲取彼寶，糧食乏盡不能得達，便詣
<lb ed="T" n="0501a26"/>上座前求作沙門。上座卽觀之，乃<anchor xml:id="beg_6" type="star"/>惟<anchor xml:id="end_6"/>衛佛
<lb n="0501a27" ed="T"/>時賢者家奴客，曾爲道人作食飮，又聞法言，

<lb n="0501b11" ed="T"/>父母終亡無所依仰。雖爲兄弟志念各異，兄
<lb n="0501b12" ed="T"/>好道誼；弟愛家業官爵俸祿，貪世榮色。居近
<lb n="0501b13" ed="T"/>波利弗雞鳴精舍，去之不遠。兄專行學諮受
<lb n="0501b14" ed="T"/>經道，不預家計，其弟見兄不親家事恒嫌恨
<lb n="0501b15" ed="T"/>之：「共爲兄弟，父母早終，勤苦念生活，反棄
<lb n="0501b16" ed="T"/>家業追逐沙門聽受佛經。沙門豈能與汝衣
<lb n="0501b17" ed="T"/>財寶耶？家轉貧狹財物日耗，人所蚩笑，謂之
<lb ed="T" n="0501b18"/>懈廢門戶絕滅。凡爲人子當立功效，繼續父
<lb ed="T" n="0501b19"/>母功勳不廢，乃爲孝子耳。」兄報之曰：「五戒、
<lb n="0501b20" ed="T"/>十善、供養三寶、行六度、坐禪念定，以道化親，
<lb n="0501b21" ed="T"/>乃爲孝耳。道俗相反自然之數，道之所樂俗
<lb ed="T" n="0501b22"/>之所惡，俗之所珍道之所賤。智愚不同謀，猶
<lb n="0501b23" ed="T"/>明冥不<anchor xml:id="nkr_note_orig_0501010" n="0501010"/><anchor xml:id="nkr_note_mod_0501010" n="0501010"/><anchor xml:id="beg0501010" n="0501010"/>可<anchor xml:id="end0501010"/>共處。是故，慧人去冥就明以致道

<lb n="0501b29" ed="T"/>捨世避危就安。」弟見兄意志趣道誼，寂然無

<lb ed="T" n="0501c01"/>報。兄則去家行作沙門，夙夜精進誦經念道，
<lb n="0501c02" ed="T"/>一心坐禪分別思惟，未曾休息懈怠，卽<anchor xml:id="nkr_note_orig_0501013" n="0501013"/><anchor xml:id="nkr_note_mod_0501013" n="0501013"/><anchor xml:id="beg0501013" n="0501013"/>具<anchor xml:id="end0501013"/>
<lb n="0501c03" ed="T"/>根、力三十七品，行合經法成道果證。往到弟
<lb n="0501c04" ed="T"/>所勸令奉法：「五戒十善生天之本，布施學問
<lb ed="T" n="0501c05"/>道慧之基。」弟聞此言瞋恚更盛，卽答兄曰：
<lb ed="T" n="0501c06"/>「卿自應廢，不親家業毀壞門戶，可獨爲此勿
<lb n="0501c07" ed="T"/>復敎我，疾出門去莫預我事。」兄便捨去。弟
<lb ed="T" n="0501c08"/>貪家業汲汲不休，未曾以法而住其心，然後
<lb ed="T" n="0501c09"/>壽終墮牛中，肥盛甚大。賈客買取載鹽販之，
<lb ed="T" n="0501c10"/>往返有數，牛遂羸頓不能復前，上坂困頓躃
<lb n="0501c11" ed="T"/>臥不起，賈人策撾搖頭纔動。時兄遊行飛在
<lb n="0501c12" ed="T"/>虛空，遙見如是，卽時思惟：「知從何來？」觀見
<lb n="0501c13" ed="T"/>其本，本是其弟，便謂之曰：「弟！汝所居舍宅田
<lb n="0501c14" ed="T"/>地，汲汲所樂今爲所在？而自投身墮牛畜中。」

<lb ed="T" n="0501c18"/>中疲頓困劣，悔當何逮？」兄知心念愴然哀傷，
<lb ed="T" n="0501c19"/>卽爲牛主說其本末事狀如是：「本是我弟，不
<lb ed="T" n="0501c20"/>信三尊背眞向僞，慳妬自恣貪求不施，墮牛
<lb ed="T" n="0501c21"/>中，羸瘦困劣甚可愍傷，今已老極疲不中用，

<lb ed="T" n="0501c27"/>所珍翫，行作沙門精進不懈，皆亦得道。由
<lb ed="T" n="0501c28"/>是觀之，世間財寶不益於人，奉敬三尊修身
